The biotechnology 2+2 degree programme offered in partnership with California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, USA complements the recently launched Malaysian Biotechnology Policy as TPM continues to make inroads into important biotechnology research areas, attracting top researchers and lecturers. TPM also has numerous educational agreements with institutions around the globe for students who wish to further their studies in engineering, information technology and business.

Background of Institution

• Located within the 660 acres of lush greenery of Technology Park Malaysia (TPM), TPM Academy is a tertiary institution with a vision to fuel the new knowledge economy with skilled technopreneurs. A subsidiary of TPM, it is a corporate body that is wholly owned by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, Malaysia, and operates under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

• Established in 1998 and fully operational in February 2000, TPM Academy’s diploma and degree programmes specialise in biotechology, engineering, information technology and business, with many collaborations and partnerships with educational institutions worldwide.

What Makes Us Special?

• TPM Academy uniquely shares its grounds with over 100 tenants of science and technology organisations as well as entrepreneurs within the state of the art infrastructure of TPM, giving students excellent opportunities to mingle with professionals in the real world and to observe actual research and commercial projects.

• Industrial placement is provided for students in practical attachments of three months with various companies while studying in the US. Students can legally extend the attachment for an additional year upon graduation.

Facilities

• Superior biotechnology laboratories with top end equipment.
• State of the art Digital Media Centre, a computer lab with software in database research, network research, graphic design and engineering, supported by high-end equipment such as plotters and drum scanners.
• Digital Studio for taping events in VHS, Beta, DVD and VCD formats and for video streaming.
• Electronic Library with about 30,000 books plus on-line journals, plus a conventional library.
• Language Lab for language training facilities.
• Other facilities: ‘Teaching Factories’ (hands-on labs), computer and science labs, engineering workshops, cafes, a sports and recreation centre, a gymnasium and healthcare services.

Student Life and Social Activities

TPM has hostels which are able to house up to 400 students.

Confidential counselling services are available, and there is an active student council which provides opportunities for student interaction in a variety of activities and events.

Scholarships/Financial Aid

TPM Academy provides assistance for students wishing to obtain financial from the government and other organisations/associations.
