Canterbury Christ Church University College was
established in 1962. It has grown into a popular and successful
higher Education institution and this year has been awarded full
university status. It counts with some 14,000 students studying
undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the faculties of
Health, Education, Business & Science and Arts and Humanities.
The University College welcomes international students and has
a well-established English language teaching unit, International
Office and Study and Welfare support services.
The University College is located next to the famous Cathedral
in the centre of the historic city of Canterbury. Canterbury is
a good location for visiting London and mainland Europe. London
is only 1 hour 30 minutes away and Paris 3 hours away by train.
Because it is a city centre campus there is no need to pay for
transportation within the city to get from your accommodation
to your classes.
Canterbury is a lively town that attracts visitors to the cathedral
and other historic buildings. It has a large student population
and also serves as a major shopping centre for the whole of the
region. It is located in ‘The Garden of England’ and
offers easy access to the countryside and the coast. Canterbury
is also a major cultural centre in Britain with its connections
to Chaucer and Dickens and offers an international cultural festival
in October. It offers a lively programme of cultural events.
In order to prepare for undergraduate entry Christ Church offers
an International Foundation year programme for international students.
This prepares you to have the correct English level and also subject
knowledge to enter the majority of our undergraduate programmes.
You can attend this course if you have a school leaving certificate,
4.5 IELTS or equivalent level of English and a minimum age of
17 years. You may also join the programme in January if you have
5.5 IELTS (or equivalent) in English.
If you want to prepare to undertake an MBA or an MSc. Masters
in Business Administration you can undertake our Pre-Masters Business
Administration programme from January to June to prepare for the
October start of the Masters. You can enter the Pre-masters with
a Diploma in Business or with substantial experience in Business
and passing the Pre-masters gives you access to the Masters.
All international students on all courses form part of the university
student body, with all the rights and privileges and access to
facilities that that brings, e.g. sports facilities, use of a
gym, free computer access, use of the library, language laboratories
and free evening language classes (October – March), use
of the college food court and student union with its recreation
facilities and programme of social events. You are automatically
a member of the C4 World, the international society which organises
additional social events. You also have the full support of an
international office which has staff dedicated to helping you
with your stay, by offering you visa advice and organize excursions
and visits, and provide welfare support. We also have an accommodation
office which helps you with finding and organizing your accommodation
and with dealing with any issues that arise concerning accommodation.
